Sunday Funday

So having a little reflection over my week so far...the purchases I've made and the best buy of the week (of course!).

Starting out with a bank holiday monday, who doesn't love one of those! I visited my old town of Roehampton and some of my best friends for a beautiful BBQ in the sun...When its my friend Kaira's cooking, believe me, you don't want to miss out! After a wonderful afternoon of wine, food and laughs I headed back to my boyfriends to (again) eat some more and have a sweet evening in with pizza and a film 'That Awkward Moment' - which I have to recommend to you all, its a good easy watch and pretty funny too! And lets be honest...who doesn't enjoy watching Zac Efron!

Travelling back on Tuesday I then came back to the reality of Uni and caught up with some work, some emails and generally chilled out a little. Unfortunately I couldn't attend my gorgeous friend Immi's birthday because I was so ill :( but she had a great night all the same!

Then on Wednesday we finally had dance, after what seemed like a lifetime! I got to teach some choreography for some beautiful dancers which I always enjoy and always makes my day! Leading on from this I then got ready to go out for my friend and flat mate Emily's birthday :) She decided she wanted us all to go out as sailors and so we did as she wished, and also joined the dancers on our night out for an evening of dancing and laughs!

Thursday was a bit of a serious day with lectures and 2 committee meetings, however it was ended on a great note as committee had their meeting over dinner at 'Fat Cats' (great food and 50% off all year round for students!!). This then led on to some cocktails and cocktail making at Fat Cats...Its lucky that we were pretty much the only ones in there! (blog post to come).

Ill friday :( After forcing myself to lectures I spent most of friday tucked up in bed as all week I have been progressively dying of the flu! (still am) but friday hit hard! Luckily I was more perky for the evening and i was FINALLY reunited with my Bermudan Baby Girl Courtney! (I haven't seen her since before I went to Sydney...TOO LONG). So Courtney, Esme and I went for a cute little pub lunch at 'The Orange Tree' pub in Nottingham. I have to say I was pretty impressed! From the outsides I always thought it was a really grim old pub, but inside its so lovely and does really great food! We were lucky to even find a table! We then ended the night making cupcakes and watching films at Courtney's :)

Lovely lay in on Saturday morning to then prepare myself for an afternoon with my lovely girls Sam, Alice and Ellie. Drinking cocktails, eating Jerk Chicken and Shopping! Heading to Turtle Bay in the afternoon ready for the 2'4'1 cocktails we enjoyed a nice catch up celebrating Alice's belated birthday! Walking out a little bit tipsy (Ellie), some of us headed out for some shopping. As always I ended coming back with more than I intended to! Having a little obsession with the Co-Ords I got these 3! So excited to feature them in a 'What She Wore' post!

Sunday: Not so much a fun day, doing my weekly shopping, washing tidying. But I do have dance later which I hope will lighten the mood :) Looking forward to another lovely week, although I know this one has MUCH more work built into it :( However I bought some little goodies for myself as a treat at the end of the week...

This weeks buy of the week has to be my super cute scrunchie which I acquired on my Saturday spree. Sunflowers, £2, Primark! Bargain :)

Have a wonderful week everyone, making sure you're Sunday is full of Candles, John Legend and Relaxation (mine always are!)

The MET Gala

Doing the daily Instagram stalk on bank holiday monday, as you do...and I come across Vogue Magazine posting a short clip of Kelly Connor, Market Editor, gliding through the Metropolitan Museum of Art looking INCREDIBLE! This, as always got me stalking a bit more and seeing Topshop joining top end designers such as Stella McCartney and Chanel to display their own line of beautiful bespoke gowns.

Celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn, Zoe Kravitz, Chanel Iman and Toni Garrn (Leo De Cap's GF...SUPER JEL!) all rocked up to the ball in Topshop specials, looking especially glamorous! I have to say I think Jourdan's shimmering yellow frock is my favourite out of the 5!

Moving away from my love of Topshop, I have to say I have been drooling over all the gowns that were worn that night! It has taken a while to just sift through all the pictures that have spread like wildfire since Monday.

Obviously Sarah Jessica Parker's dress was going to blow everyones mind, as always, she never fails to make a statement with her fashion items. Dressed in Oscar de la Renta, she held up her reputation of stepping out of the safe zone.

The power couple of the century Jay-Z and Beyonce look chic and cool in Givenchy Couture.

I absolutely adored Suki Waterhouse's Burberry dress, completely stunning! Burberry never seem to disappoint keeping the classic look and making it modern and relevant with this pale pink layered frock.

Anne Hathaway playing it simple and elegant with the matching crop and skirt.

Cara Delevingne always going beyond the boundaries, but still looking like a rockstar in Stella McCartney Top, Trousers and Shoes, while accessorising with Cartier to top off her edgy look.

She may not have stood out against the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, but my baby girl Rachael Mcadams played it classy and cute in a pale pink number by Ralph Lauren. Understated and beautiful as always! I just love her.

Saving the best till last, my absolute favourite celebrity and biggest girl crush alive, not to mention probably the cutest couple ever! BLAKE LIVELY AND RYAN REYNOLDS in Gucci Première & Gucci. Oh Wow this is just something else! GG takes her class to a whole other level. I'm sure most other girls understand what I mean when I say I think I'm in love with them...can I be their very old surrogate child (although my looks clearly didn't come from their genes).

Comment as to who your favourite deseed celebs were at the Gala :) I'd love to know!

Theres No Place Like Home

So 2 weeks ago I made the long 3 hour journey back form Nottingham to Kent, but instead of being bogged down by all the moody commuters, nothing in the world was killing my vibes! My Daddy was home, and thats all that mattered! For those of you that don't know, I have a small little family of just me and paps, and now that he works most of the year out in Saudi Arabia its usually just little old me! BUT this weekend was different, because he was back!! I hadn't seen him since the start of January and a lot had happened since then, New York, Edinburgh...and much much more! While I was back on this lovely sunny weekend, it made me realise how much I really do love home, especially when its full with life and family!
I remember waking up to Dad playing smooth jazz on the radio in the mornings and saying 'Hi Livs' when I walked downstairs with a grumpy face on (usually because it was like 9 o'clock on a Saturday and I'm not a morning person!). But he'd be there with a grin and usually a cup of coffee offering me some breakfast :). In those summer months when you can smell the freshly cut grass and the BBQ's and the night air isn't so cold anymore, you sit amongst the garden and heat your hands on the remains of the BBQ you've just had, and just appreciate life!
Thats what my weekend was like...amongst doing LOTS of clothes shopping and being treated to lots of dinners out! Sometimes when we are off being the busy little bees we are, we forget to just stop still and appreciate whats around us. I love my university room, its like my little den with candles, fairy lights and photos. It allows me to just chill out and relax. Coming home to Kent is just so different from that, it makes me relax and be happy wherever I go, and because I am no longer always there, I appreciate it all the more.

Sometimes we need to leave to appreciate where we are.

Best of the Fest #1 - The Hair

Its that time of year all over again...FESTIVAL TIME! Okay so your desired fest may not actually be for quite a few months yet, but its definitely time to start planning which ones you're going to go to and start saving for you tickets. So why not start to plan your festival style as well. Im here to help!
Being a huge Festival lover and 'goer' myself, I know the planning that goes into those outfits beforehand, the stocking up of dry shampoo and the hairstyles that cover your grease by day 4!
I am going to be doing a series of posts in the next few weeks, all leading up to the Festivals about each section of style.
So here is #1 - The Hair! Now it really does depend on what kind of hair you have. We aren't all gifted with the natural bouncy locks, and look like a supermodel when we wake up from our sweaty tent. So here are 5 looks which reflect from the grease and still make you look like a rockstar!

Despite the fact that from day one most of us look like this, with a bit of help from our beloved Tangle Teazer and some dry shampoo (maybe a bit of hair spray, but thats going to be a killer in the morning). We can totally look like we've been showering regularly!

The Curls

Im not Hudgens biggest fan, and granted she probably had her personal stylist along with her to the festival, BUT you can still rock the curls like she does through the festival season. Sleep in plaits, put rags in your hair, use moose, or just sleep with a messy bun! Some of you may be lucky enough already to have curly hair naturally, in which case "I WOKE UP LIKE THIS" is much needed!
Curls are also an awesome way of hiding the grease (and dry shampoo!).

 The Hat

For those whose hair stylist techniques aren't quite on point, what better way to cover up the mop and still make yourself look super on trend, than by shoving a hat over it! Florence goes for the cute small hat, whereas the Boho chick at the top goes all out with a big'un! Whatever style suits you best, hats are a great way to still look fresh! (although be careful, you will probably lose it in the crowds!).

 The Feathers

I can't say I've done this one yet, but I think its definitely on the cards for this year's fest! FEATHERS :) Think hippy, think red indian, think dream catchers! Whatever kind of look you want to go for, they look amazing! Plus, you look like you're a proper festival goer (you know what I mean, who doesn't want to look as though they're natural habitat is a festival!). If you're confident enough to go for the full on headdress DO IT, and add in some plaits too! If not random plaits in the hair with feathers on the end always look super cute (however you need to be comfortable with the messy look, as by the end of the day its not going to look incredible!). Alternatively you can rock it like the girl above and have an up do with the feathers to one side. I think she is wearing a headband, which they're attached to. So I'll be keeping my eye out for one of those and let you know if I find one!

 The Headband

Perfect for those of you with maybe shorter hair. Its not long enough for the curls, hats would make you look bald, and the flower power results in a mushroom head! The head band is a good solution. Again its been done, but it looks wicked! Especially if you already have an edge to your style. Make sure you go for the right colour and pattern though, I adore the girl above! Her band goes perfectly with her cowboy esque jacket and matches her lippy, which is only complimented nicely with the reto sunnies! Seriously wish I could pull off that look :)

 The Flowers

I don't have to remind you of this trend. It has literally been covering festivals for the last 3 years! THE FLOWER POWER :) Its back with a vengeance, anyone who is actually no one is wearing the flowers. They're even selling them at the festivals themselves! But why not take the next step and make them big, make them bold. Like this girl, she's confident with her array of flowers on her head, and she is rocking it!

 The Plait

Plaits, plaits, plaits! Perfect! They keep the greasy fringe out the way, they look insane, the more the merrier when it  comes to plaits! If you want to do small random ones or whack in the entire head. Plaits are always going to look awesome and be super practical too! No knots, nice wavy hair at the end of it, who wouldn't want that!
