Endinburgh Get Away

Day 1

So today is the day, me and my boyfriend are off for a cute little week in Edinburgh. Chilling out after I've had THE most stressful week of deadlines, a relaxation week is so needed! Heading out early we got the train from Home to London, and then started the long journey from Kings Cross to Edinburgh! (I got excited because the platform looked like Harry Potter)

As a lovely surprise I was able to see my Dad (who works in Saudi Arabia) for 10 minutes before getting on my train! Which was an added bonus to the entire trip!

Next came the moment of truth, the apartment, safe to say we were very very happy with the outcome!!

After making ourselves at home we then headed out for something to eat and hit a few bars! George Street seems to have an essence of London to it, with gorgeous restaurants and even better bars! I wish we had these back home!
We started the evening off at Strada Restaurant which was BEAUTIFUL - Such nice food!

After Dinner we headed for a few drinks, starting at a place called The Dome! An absolutely incredible building! Very 1920's Gatsby esque!

Strawberry Daiquiri and a Pina Colada!

We then went onto a great bar called The Monde! Such a beaut place and they were playing GREAT MUSIC! Upstairs was really good with blue and red lighting and just seats to sit and chill!

After staying there for a few we headed home! The bed, which is probably THE most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, was welcomed with open arms!

Nyc Day Six

Day 6 - Our Last Day :(

Starting the day early by packing our bags and having a shower, we then headed out onto 5th Avenue,  to do some gift shopping for our loved ones back home

Working up quite the appetite, my friend Immi said that we just HAD to go to the Polish Tea Rooms to get breakfast! However she failed to mention that the other reason it was called the Polish tea rooms was down to the people who worked there being Polish, which made it significantly awkward when I asked them straight out whether it was called the Polish Tea rooms and he replied "thats what they call us, yes" Typical Livy making situations awkward since 1993! Anyway once we were over that and actually realised its real name was the Edison Hotel Cafe we ordered our breakfast and how lovely it was!

Being a trainer freak, I couldn't go to New York and not take a trip to Nike Town! However to my dismay I actually didn't like any of the trainers they had out, so it was a massive let down for me! although the store itself of course was very impressive, I would have preferred to leave with a pair of trainers!

Finally we got a taxi back to Macys (because we are lazy) and had some more Pizza and Auntie Anne's strawberry lemonade WHICH IS WONDERFUL its so tasty! I wish we had one over here in the UK!

Then we headed back to the hotel to get on the coach back to JFK airport :( SO sad! But at least our flights were amazing, they had the most recent films that had been released and such a massive selection at that! There was even season 5 of Breaking Bad!

It really was just such an incredible trip and lived up to my expectations PLUS WAY MORE! I felt like a little New Yorker by the time I left, knowing how the subway and the grid system worked and navigating my way round everywhere. It was great to just be left along to explore till whatever time we wanted (it felt weird not having to be back at the hotel by like 10 in the evening). I know I will be going there again, and I no longer feel scared about being in places I don't particularly know, because now I know I'll be able to find my way wherever I am!

Nyc Day Five

Day 5

Even though it was snowing, we started the day by walking to Chelsea and taking a walk along New Yorks High Line which is an old railway elevated high off the ground.

After having quite a long walk around Chelsea, especially 17th Street where we found some amazing thrift shops, we headed over to Chelsea Market.
 Antropologie became my favourite shop!

We headed into a cute iranian for a truly delicious meal!

Once we were re-fund again we had a wonder around Chelsea Market, it really it a cute and quirky place!

Feeling utterly tired we headed back to the hotel for a pitstop, for the first time in the week! All our long days were taking their toll on us.

Once we were feeling less tired we headed out to visit Cental Park at night! Although it was beautiful, we had a very strange incident involving a cross dresser! Definitely one to remember!

Next it was time to be the arty farty students we are and head down to the MoMA to be cultured by art!

Next it was time for dinner, and for this, we met up with Ellies old friends from school who lived in New York! They took us down to Korea Town to one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! I would definitely suggest Korean food to anyone who wasn't sure! I loved it!

Ending off the night in a perfect way we all went to Pink Berry and met our other friends Immi and Sam there too! Pink Berry was delicious!!
